Simple Pleasures

I went to Hong Kong today for a doctor's appointment and was struck by all of the things that brought me simple pleasures. Things that back home I wouldn't think twice about. Like seeing a random pretty-much-stranger that I had talked to once before on the ferry, and sitting by one another chatting the whole way to HK. Like navigating the subway system for the first time alone, instead of taking a taxi from the ferry terminal to my doctor's office like I usually do. (Subway is waaay cheaper, but actually took just as long by the time I walked through the terminal, got change, and bought my ticket). Or being able to ask someone (anyone!) a question in English. Even getting a gingerbread latte from Starbucks (is it too much to ask that China gets those, too?). Or spending a couple of hours baby-free wandering around and shopping without feeling rushed. And of course, finding out that baby #2 is right on track, growing well, and looking healthy - something we're thankful for even if she is another girl, and not the son we were both kind of hoping for. : )

My kids at school finally commented on my tummy this week, which I guess means it's time to post a baby bump pic. Thankfully I'm still fitting into regular clothes because Santa (mom & dad) doesn't arrive with maternity clothes for another 3 weeks! : )
