Falling into routine...

It's been a few days since my last post, which could mean a) nothing blog-worthy and interesting has happened; b) blog-worthy and interesting things are happening, I'm just getting used to them so I they don't register as blog-worthy and interesting; c) we're falling into a routine where things seem "normal" - work, family time, socials with friends - and I feel that would be boring to report; or d) all of the above.

It probably is a combination of all of those things. Even though we're living in a completely foreign place, it just feels like life right now, nothing out of the ordinary. True, I can't read any of the signs. True, I can't understand what anyone is saying to (or about) me. But you learn to not care and use what you know to get around.

We're into the swing of school, and we're getting our schedules figured out. Soccer for Marty after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays; meetings after school on Wednesdays; usually a social on Fridays; shopping on the weekends. There is certainly still much more to explore and learn. I'm envious of my coworkers who have been to the artist district and commissioned custom paintings for their apartments. Or the coworkers who have been to the fabric district and got new dresses and custom curtains made. Marty's mom and dad come in a couple of days, so I'm hoping I can get in some shopping, and that foot massage that I still have not had!

Also on the agenda for their visit: a birthday party for Everleigh! She'll be turning 2 on September 4th. It's hard to believe she's so old already. She's so full of personality, curiosity, laughter, adventure, and intelligence. (Of course, I'm biased. ; ) She has adjusted incredibly well to this move, as we suspected she would. She loves to go for walks to the playground, say "hi" to doggies and babies, and go swimming. Today we went swimming after school and she made friends with (or terrorized, depending on your perspective) 2 little French kids about her age. She has no fear in the water. She loves to dive under and wants so badly to just be able to swim (she hates mommy hanging on to her in the deep end). She is also a pool toy klepto, so it looks like she'll be getting pool toys and some water wings for her birthday!

Our little mermaid ; )
